Pranlal Purshottam Sheth, CBE, campaigner for equality and human rights, was born on
December 20, 1934. He died of cancer on June 30, 2003, aged 68. He practised
Law in Kisumu and was close friend of
Oginga Odinga. He fought for independence of Kenya and was actively
involved in talks at Lancaster House. After independence, he helped to draft the new Constitution, and was appointed to commissions responsible for agricultural, economic and broadcasting policies. He also chaired a commission on tribal riots. He became a victim of the rift between Kenyatta and Odinga, resulting in his arrest in Kisumu and was deprived of his citizenship by presidential decree. Mr. Amratlal Sodha
(Secretary of Kisumuwala & District Reunion) passed away on Wednesday 26th
January 2005. Mr. Sodha not only
contributed towards the Kisumu Reunions, but also was very active among the
Lohana community here in the UK. He will be sadly missed by those who knew
him. |
